Achmad Zacky Ambadar

Lead, Electric Mobility and Indonesia Energy

Achmad Zacky Ambadar is the Lead, Electric Mobility and Indonesia Energy at IISD, overseeing the implementation of the EnerKey project focused on accelerating the decarbonization of transport in Indonesia and the Philippines. He also guides IISD’s broader energy work in Indonesia.

Zacky has over a decade of experience at the intersection of climate policy, sustainable transport, and public finance reform. Prior to joining IISD, he worked with GIZ Indonesia on low-carbon development planning, public transport development, and electric mobility policy, as well as with the Indonesian Ministry of Transport and Bappenas, where he contributed to public transport reform and sustainable finance strategies. He also supported various international development partners on projects related to energy transition, environmental policy, and public transport, including the World Bank, Agence Française de Développement, Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau, and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Zacky holds a master’s degree in transport systems from the Technische Universität München and a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from the Institut Teknoloi Bandung.
